We want to make you aware of a dangerous trend on TikTok that is affecting students and their school-issued laptops. The trend encourages students to insert pencil lead or other objects into laptop ports to try and create sparks or flames. This is damaging devices and creating serious safety risks.

Here’s what you need to know:
    •    Device Damage and Fines: Damaging a school laptop on purpose can lead to a fine of $150–$480, depending on how severe the damage is. These costs are not covered by Voluntary Device Protection if the damage is intentional.
    •    Safety First: This behavior is not only harmful to the devices—it can also cause burns or even start a fire.

Please talk to your student about this trend and remind them to use their school laptop responsibly.
